THE PATRIARCH

The story of Abra(ha)m is one of the seminal stories in all the Bible. We're going to spend 16 weeks exploring it.
Before we get to the outline, I think it's important for you to understand the 'interpretive lens' I'm using when studying and writing.
HOW I'M READING GENESIS...
1. The FRONT END of a grand narrative of creation, fall, and redemption...
(God MAKES something, we MESS it up, God FIXES it)
2. Meet Jesus' CRAZY FAMILY, and in honestly revealing their craziness, help you FEEL like there's ROOM for you too...
(You're not THAT crazy)
3. To stoke the PROMISE of LAND (a place to belong) and give you HOPE along the way that you're actually going to MAKE IT someday...
(WHERE do I BELONG? What are the TANGIBLE SIGNS that I'm getting SOMEWHERE?)
4. Flawed HERO STORIES that emphasize the DIFFERENCE that God makes in those stories...
(Where IS the DIFFERENCE God is making in MY story?)
5. To help us (simple folk like the ancient Jews) CELEBRATE the boundless creative GOODNESS of The Creator...
(Where IS the boundless beauty to be celebrated in THIS situation?)
That said, here's the OUTLINE for the series:
