Our Church
MISSION STATEMENT:
"To craft environments in which our peers encounter the Living Presence of God in Worship, Word, Sacrament, and Community; that Community existing as a context in which, those who choose to follow Jesus, can do so, together with us."

You get all sorts of questions about your church.
What's is going to be LIKE?
"What KIND of church is it?"
"Where do they MEET?"
"Will there be singing?
"What should I wear?"
"Can I bring my KIDS?"
"What exactly do they BELIEVE?"
Do they do any mercy or justice work in the COMMUNITY?
And on and on it goes.
We totally understand.
Many of our peers are interested in spiritual things and some would admit to feeling a need for something 'more' in their life. Some might say in an unguarded moment that all of their things, their success, their reputation and their circle of relationships aren't bringing them the kind of happiness they desire.
Also, as we get older (and wiser, and more beat up by life) we tend to jettison our rejection of 'all things church' and start wondering if there might be something to it that we've missed. Especially once kids come into the picture and start asking about 'right' and 'wrong', we begin wondering how to fashion a 'moral worldview' to guide them.
So we start thinking about checking out a church.
And that's where it gets really tough.
Where to start? Can I just show up? What will it be like?
This page and the ones following are designed to try and acquaint you with how we do things at THE WELL. We'll tell you up front what we believe and what we do and why we do it. Don't worry if your beliefs don't line up 100% with ours. A church is a group of people who are learning to love Jesus, each other and the world around them. A church is not a bunch of people who've got all the answers.
You can also check out our pastor's preaching (two guys read from the Bible first then Todd gets up to preach. He's the guy in a blazer) to get a sense of what the sermon (just click the little green 'play' button next to the July 12th date) might feel like if you choose to visit us on a sunday.
Churches typically have singing as part of their Sunday service. The reason we sing is because, throughout history, it's one of the key ways in which people have expressed their thoughts and feelings (in a corporate sense) to God. The Bible also is full of singing. Angels singing, people singing, Jesus telling a bunch of religious folk that even the rocks would cry out in worship if His people didn't.
Have you ever noticed that most of the great singers (from Whitney Houston to Aretha Franklin) grew up singing in church? Worship (ascribing 'worth' to something) in song has always been a big part of what it means to experience church together. There will be singing at THE WELL but if you've never sung in public before don't worry about it. Just come and soak it all in. If you choose to keep coming back, before long you'll start learning the songs and the day might come when you feel like you want to join in--like you need to express something that's happening inside you by joining the other people in the room in singing.
We're betting you're going to like it. As we move along as a church we'll post some links here for you to check out what the singing looks like at THE WELL. For now here's the worship leader from our first church plant singing one of our favorite worship songs.

We're glad you're here and we hope this helps.
Our vision is to see the lives of many residents (men, women, and their children) of Burlington and the surrounding region totally transformed by an ongoing encounter with the living Jesus as preached from scripture and as made known by the active work of the Holy Spirit in the midst of God's people. As their lives are transformed it is our dream to see the people God brings us begin to impact the culture of their home, neighborhood, extended family, circle of friends, workplace and eventually of the city and region itself for the sake of God's glory and the happiness, fulfillment and salvation of His people.
